Satelite Radio
I have an alpine radio with an XM option. I think I want to get XM radio, but I have heard that you need to install a special antenna. If this is true, have any of you done this? and if so, where did you put the antenna? I have no idea where this would go...

I've got a 2000 S also.
Antenna in my Sirius is on the dash. Right most corner. It plugs in on the other end to the Sirius receiver. I have the plug and play kind that I hook up to my PCs when I'm not in the car. Its a very easy install.
For your XM head unit it will most likey connect to a rear jack and your done. You'll need the pins to pull the headunit out, othewise its off to the sound shop.
p.s. here in NJ, Circuit City was going to charge me $80 to install the antenna.
Total rip off.

I have a micro antenna sitting in the middle of my dash nearest the window near the light that flashes for the alarm. It is not that noticable and nobody ever says "what is that thing". It still picks up good even though you are supposed to mount it on the outside, I have had no problems for about a year now.

Under the front hood, near the cabin filter, left of the battery.
Surprised it still works under there but nice to know it does!

I did not want to start a new topic/Saving space on the Server
This picture is the back of my CDR23 Radio and shows a 10 amp fuse. I am thinking about using a fuse tap on this fuse to get 12 volts that will supply a Stratus 7 Portable Satelite Radio. I hope to do a custom install in the opening once I remove the CD Caddy. I plan on using a blank face plate that will surround the radio. I could tap into the Brown wire which is ground, and the joined RED/BLK wire which is Positive, but a single tap on the 10 amp fuse would be better than two.

For future reference, you can start your own thread. No need to dredge up a 12 year old post. I don't think I've ever heard the "save server space" excuse.
Just get your power from the phone plug in the lower console. Do a search...lots of pictures.

I was able to retrieve the OEM phone connector simply by pulling out the cubby bin below the CD caddy. The Brown wire is ground and the Green is the switched 12 volts which is what I wanted. What I would like to have is the male connector with wires. My plan for now is to use the connectors pictured which will work out just fine connecting to my Radio's power cable.
