Yes, the 987.1 does have an improved interior in some aspects. Ingress/egress is smoother (for me at least), standard OBC, better cupholders, more lighting, tighter shifter, and has a touch more footroom.

Aside from that, the materials are worse than the 986. The base plastics (for the panels) are more brittle, the soft-touch rubberized paint comes off more readily, the HVAC controls get FUBAR'd easier, the leather isn't quite as nice, and the panels are harder to keep clean. Feels more Volkswagen-like than Porsche.

That said, I do like both. Not like I'm going to turn down a spirited drive in a 987.
