It is easier (and safer for the ball joint), to remove the bolt that attaches the lower control arm to the subframe...

I'll do that in the morning, alignment be damned. I just can't be stuck another day. Wish they had a tool small enough to get it out, but I'll remove the LCA, from the suffrage and how that gives enough play to pull it out.

So now, my whole axle came out of the transmission,the hub is still stuck to axle though. :(

You can get a loaner tool 3 jaw puller from most auto parts stores and use it to push the axle put of the hub.

My experience is the pickle fork ALWAYS works when you hit it hard enough but it always rips up the ball joint boot. Before I did my last bearing I picked up the ball joint tool from Autozone for about $30. The cheap one I had wouldn't open wide enough for the main ball joints but the new one does.

I also am able to pull bearings with an improvised tool. A piece of pluming I had on hand (i think its a 4in to 3in stainless steel tubing adapter) , some extremely thick washers special ordered from McMaster Carr, and a 1 inch threaded rod. I've done bearings half a dozen times with it.

My local porsche indy just drove 30 miles to get this axle off and replace my hubby now for only 150 bucks... kinda glad but now my diy ego has been shot, also I lost some gear oil due to my lack of care.

What also got me was I panicked when I noticed the diff cover came off.

Boxster is fixed, and it's weird that is so quiet. Very quiet.
