The Grand Tour and the 986

Anyone catch the Boxster's cameo in the most recent episode of the Grand Tour? The boys were in Finland....home of many 986's....so one of them (not Clarkson, that's for sure) rolled on up in a silver 986. Beauty to behold.

James may once owned a 986 S and I think Hammond did too.

They may have owned 986s before that I remember them on some tv show where they had to guess a car from a small bit of it and may missed it and was made fun of because he owned the car in the show... a 986 S.

Did a search all I see facts on was him buying one in 05

Needless to say - they both loved the Boxster in all it's model years. Clarkson on the other hand.....loved them, but hated them at the same time. He'd drive one and get out and say wow...how much fun was that? Then he'd look at it, call it a Coxster and say he didn't know which end was the front or the back.

I'm so sick of that joke....

...."it doesn't know if it's coming or going."

That is so tired.

Porsche designed a car to look like a modern 550 and they did it.

Idk, just cause a car has rear fenders front and rear doesn't justify this, the rear is up far higher with the eye tracing to the central exhaust with the front having an aggressive lip tracing eyes along the fenders.

Aside from the proportions being slightly more similar than the average car and no massive front grill there is little reason to say this.

The low back trunk is pretty unique...is there another recently (mass) produced car that has a similar rear slope, without some kind of squared-off tail or lip?

And, as a recent example, my mother tried to get into the drivers side on Christmas Eve when I drove her home.

I love it, however, so I don't mind at all.

While I don't think the side view of the 986 is the most flattering, I still like it - coming and going.

I love the side view. Don't get the back and front thing. Never dawned on me.

Beautiful car particle wave.

Haha! Maybe so, but the Box, IMHO, best photographed from the rear 3/4 view.

3/4 is the best view, though I have really come around on the front view since I lowered my rig. I've always loved the rear shot As well. Great from a helicopter looking down as well.
