Sold the Box-bought a Cayman

Well I did it!

I sold my 04 Boxster (only 1500 miles) to my son. Then ordered a Cayman S. I ordered the Black metallic, grey interior and a lot of options. It is due to arrive in about 3 weeks.

I fell in love with the Cayman when I saw it at the Chicago Auto Show. I really think it is one of the most beautiful cars that I have ever seen! Super!

Bmussatti...thanks for the pics....I can hardly wait! Is that your car?

I will definitely stay on this forum. It has served me well.

I did find a good forum dedicated to the Cayman however. It is: http://www.caymanclub.net/default.asp

I'm ribbing my son about sucking Cayman exhaust when I get it. Sorry Guys!

Bmussatti:

Great pics of the Cayman in other colors. The last one looks a little like Nicholson as The Joker....just kidding.

My trade to the Cayman deserves a little more explanation. I was absolutely thrilled with the Box S...it only had about 1500 miles on it. But then I went to the Chicago Auto show and saw the Cayman. I fell in love with it! I shared that experience with my son who soon thereafter hit me with incredible pressure to sell the Box to him. The other issue that some of you won't understand is that I really didn't liked the convertible aspect of the Boxster. I can't really explain that; but I never enjoyed riding with the top down. Weird, I guess!!! I would never have sold just for that reason....but the son made it easy to do.

Superb picture...that is it exactly except for the wheels. I got the 19" Carrera classics.

I have to wonder, why bother even buying the car if you're only going to drive it 500 miles a year? That's not even worth the hastle. But I guess it makes for a good deal for the second owner.

I bought the '04 Boxster in August of 05. It was new with only about 250 miles on it and I got a great deal. So, I really only used it for a couple of months because I put it away for the winter by Nov.

The Cayman will get more attention than that but I will also be putting it up in the winter.

The wheels are from Sportec, I think.
You'll be seeing that 3.8 BoxsterS in Excellence pretty soon.
They made mention of it when Excellence reviewed the 3.8 987 Boxster.

do you mind me asking but did you get a good deal on the CaymanS?
or did you have to pay a markup?
CaymanS sales started out quiet well, matching the number of Cayenne units
sold in the begining of the year. Not sure how its going these days.

The list price came in at about 70K.
He then took off 4 or 5% before I even asked.

So, I assume it is a pretty good deal. I've been reading a forum dedicated to the Cayman and it seems that people are getting between 3 and 5% discounts. I'm not sure what that indicates regarding sales.

Perhaps the discounts will cease after the J.D.Power ratings.

Man, that's a gorgeous car! Congrats on the new baby.

Wish I could have one, but the wife is not fond of "hatch backs" and would never give up the pop top on the Boxster. I won't give up the Shark so I guess I'm out of luck.
