Signs of transmission problems..

I've made a couple of threads about my boxster 98 2.5L

Fortunately my mechanic towed the car back and repaired the engine - which sputtered milk shake (coolant engine oil mix)

The mechanic stripped the engine and repaired it.. I haven't gotten hold of the list of items replaced yet..

My question is this: my mechanic says after the engine is repaired, the car is fine. However previously the car shakes whenever P,D,R are switched (esp after some time running) and also, when gear shifts in auto mode, the car jerks a little. I reckon those are transmission issues?

I want to demonstrate such issues to the mechanic soon to convince him the transmission has issues so he can bother to fix them...

Do you guys think the above are transmission issues or may be related to the engine? Besides obvious inability to engage gears, what are the other obvious/subtle signs of transmission issues that I should look out for?

Thanks a bunch
