how do you remove the drivers side wiper arm?

That might give a touch more room but it's the hood that's right over the nut. 2003 model.

Give it a try.
I have done it long time ago, so I'm not sure that my memory serves me right.
But you might be able to lift the hood to the point that it clears the nut.
