Thumbs up Winter Time - Car Sleeping

Well folks it was a great summer of driving without too many issues again this year which makes it a very happy and successful one. Sadly, its that day where I had to put my car to sleep for the winter... wrapped it all up to keep warm and dry for the next 5 months or so. Just wanted to thank everyone on here who provides such great advice and help to those in need. It is my opinion that this site and the people on here save one another a great deal of money and time....

THANKS EVERYONE !

I should be doing the same thing soon, but I didn't get to drive it much this year only put 500 Kilometers on it, too many things to do and electrical problems with it.

I run summers all year. We might get one day with a tiny bit of snow but even that is rare on the mid island. Usually it stays pretty sunny too, this year has been a bit rainy though.

No idea. Never heard of it.

As for me, I'm racing in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, and March.

It's Heaven.

Beautiful blankets of white snow, full breaths of fresh and crisp icy air...I love working outside in the winter. Chopping wood for the wood burning stove, shoveling the driveway, helping a farmer neighbor repair a fence.
I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I lived in San Diego back in the 90's and I'd never do it again. Sure, warm weather can be nice, but it gets old. I also like having water to drink and wash my car with.

+986! I live where there's winter and snow because I like it better. I was born in Tucson, and the heat, lack of snow and winter, plus too many people drove me up north. You people from CA, FL, AZ, etc. can tease all you want, but I wouldn't move to those places if you paid me! I drive my Boxster most of the winter and I love it!

This "winter" thing is wonderful. Its the time of year that those of us who live in florida can finally put the tkp down every day. And we can wrench on the car without gettkng completely soaked in sweat in five minutes and eaten by mosquitos.

Oh sorry Dr. Didnt mean to rub it in.

It is supposed to be in the mid 60's here for a few days. Maybe a couple 50 deg days in the next few weeks. I figure I have until just before Thanksgiving, then she goes to sleep. I need to protect her from 120+ inches of snow we get each year, not to mention who knows how much salt.

Just checked the forecast and it looks like we will be around 70f for at least the next 2 weeks (Missouri). Prime driving weather!

Sorry for your loss!

I put my 2000S into storage Saturday. As I walked out of the storage facility I looked back at it, warm and protected against the arctic blasts to come under it's winter blanket of a silver car cover and thought of all the special moments over the 6200 miles covered this past season. Last week it got an oil change and two rear Pilots (drove over a screw laying in the road and shredded it - the rears had just under 20k miles on them and looked like they would need to be replaced in the Spring so very little added expense).

Anyhow, this experience was similar to when I owned a racing sailboat on Lake Michigan of leaving the boatyard where it was going to hibernate. Good memories of good times.

Winter is the time for ice racing!

Might not take the Boxster unless I nab a set of winter tires, but one of the highlights of last winter was sliding around the lake for an afternoon.

Last winter, I drove the Boxster until the first major storm, which was very late, around early February. Sure, we got some snow in January but the roads were cleared and some of the snow melted. So it slept from 7 weeks it it was back out in late March!

I am hoping for the same this winter. This is a boxster! It is meant to be driven!

Cheers from Kanata!
