Winter Time - Car Sleeping
Well folks it was a great summer of driving without too many issues again this year which makes it a very happy and successful one. Sadly, its that day where I had to put my car to sleep for the winter... wrapped it all up to keep warm and dry for the next 5 months or so. Just wanted to thank everyone on here who provides such great advice and help to those in need. It is my opinion that this site and the people on here save one another a great deal of money and time....
THANKS EVERYONE ! |
I should be doing the same thing soon, but I didn't get to drive it much this year only put 500 Kilometers on it, too many things to do and electrical problems with it.

What's this "winter" i keep hearing about?

Just checked the forecast and it looks like we will be around 70f for at least the next 2 weeks (Missouri). Prime driving weather! ;)
Sorry for your loss! :p |
Aaaahhhh winter season, the time of year that the southerners get to torment the northerners with pictures of sunny blue skies and sexy Boxster top down pics.

Winter is the time for ice racing!
Might not take the Boxster unless I nab a set of winter tires, but one of the highlights of last winter was sliding around the lake for an afternoon. |

It's almost time to switch to A/S tires! Almost..

I run summers all year. We might get one day with a tiny bit of snow but even that is rare on the mid island. Usually it stays pretty sunny too, this year has been a bit rainy though. |
Last winter, I drove the Boxster until the first major storm, which was very late, around early February. Sure, we got some snow in January but the roads were cleared and some of the snow melted. So it slept from 7 weeks it it was back out in late March!
I am hoping for the same this winter. This is a boxster! It is meant to be driven! Cheers from Kanata! |

As for me, I'm racing in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, and March. |

Beautiful blankets of white snow, full breaths of fresh and crisp icy air...I love working outside in the winter. Chopping wood for the wood burning stove, shoveling the driveway, helping a farmer neighbor repair a fence. I wouldn't trade it for the world! I lived in San Diego back in the 90's and I'd never do it again. Sure, warm weather can be nice, but it gets old. I also like having water to drink and wash my car with. :p |

I wish I did not have to live through winters ... 6 feet of snow and -40C temp. Who in the right mind likes this!!! hahaha

Hey there, wait a minute. We have winter-ish weather in SoCal. It rained on Monday and they predict more rain for this Friday. That is rain, twice in one week. It is almost apocalyptic, I tell you.
Originally from Buffalo. Why anybody still lives in Buffalo is beyond me. |
All winter means is that it's time to switch to snow tires and that ice racing is just around the corner!

Hoping to get a few more weekends out of her then she will switch places with the snowmobile. Actually looking forward to zipping across icy fields 10 inches off the ground at a rapid pace. Embrace the weather you have.

Mine will be going to bed in a couple weeks. I always do one last wash before storing, and getting you hands wet in 40-degree weather is not fun. I don't drive in Wisconsin winters because the roads get salted so much every time it snows. Salt + Water = Corrosion.
Plus, I see no benefit in paying the insurance costs to drive a few times between mid-November and mid-April (or as in the case this past year, mid-May). DBear |
