i had the $60 short shifter on my 01s.great product.
however, Ben's ball bearing shifter is something else. the difference between the two is night and day.
it's like comparing between the amazing headlights you built using Fred's kit, to the cheesy chinese headlight.
Edit: BTW, the $60 shifter itself, is no different than the $300 B&M product. they are both made from a similar anodized aluminum.
even if the B&M is from higher grade aluminum (which i doubt), it still doesn't make any difference.
the smoothness and precision of the shifter is in the bearings.
