hey you should remove the license plate from the photo. I'm sure you can still edit the picture.

I see by the license plate that you are in Bogota. Are Porsche cars common there? My gym instructor is from there and she is drop dead gorgeous she works as a fitness model for magazines. Thanks to her I never miss going to the gym! I wish she would wash my car someday.

p.s.
with a car like that in South America I hope and pray you are a single man

"I see by the license plate that you are in Bogota. Are Porsche cars common there?"

Bogota = Drug capitol of the world.
Drugs = Lots of cash
Lots of cash = lots of fine european cars. I'm betting there's a huge crowd of Porsches around town!

Cartagena, I'm not implying you're involved in drugs because you live in Bogota... but it does stand to reason that if a guy has an extra 100k sitting around, he might as well buy himself a nice car to drive

Mexico is the drug capital of the world.

Porsches are very rare in Bogota. There are some but it is unusual to see one. Very few fine european cars.

I have lived in Colombia for 2.5 years. I have NEVER ONE TIME seen drugs. I have never been offered drugs on the street. I have never met a drug dealer. When I walk down the street in Miami, NY or LA I am offered drugs for sale but that has never happened in Colombia.

But it is ok, I understand your stereotyping from the media and television. Most Colombians think that Americans own a tree that grows money so it is not like people do not stereotype here.

I do not live in Bogota by the way. The car is registered there which is why the plates say Bogota but I live on the coast.

i've never understood why people black out their license plates - is there something special in the license, only on line or the internet, if someone sees your license plate - cuz, if you all remember, when you're driving down the street, parked at the coffee shop or your car is sitting in your drive way, your license plate is perfectly visible for all to read, copy, decipher and or steal! have people figured out a way to actually steal the plate off the car through the internet?!?! ooooh - matrix-y!!!

RN,

having worked in federal law enforcement I can tell you the drug capitol of the world is not Bogota or anywhere in South America for that matter. Perhaps at one time but no longer and its been like that for a long time now. Mexico today is the headquarters of the drug trade. Very large amounts (passenger planes minus the seats) of drugs are flown into Northern Mexico where they are off loaded and packed onto trucks headed into the U.S. through the south west border. Mexican gangs control the distrbution of drugs coming into all the major U.S. cities. Mexico may not yet be a grower and processor of drugs like the South American countries but Mexico still does the majority of the leg work, where the big money is. And of course we still consume well north of 75% of the worlds drugs even though we no longer control the majority of the world's wealth.

As far as the license plate, again having worked in law enforcement I can tell you don't want your license plate number on the internet. Motor vehicle information is very easy to obtain, There are car theft gangs who operate by spotting cars & noting the plate number. In Southern California and South Florida this must be very easy given the concentration of Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo etc.
these very well funded guys do a little on line research and appear at your home in the middle of the night to steal your baby often times using a tow truck to make it look like a repossesion and your neighbohrs feeling embarrased for you don't call the police. Sometimes they follow you home too. Enthusiast websites like this one are like a virtual menu for theifs. So don't post your small town name or license plate number.

Information that was only available to law enforcement is now easily accessible on the internet through paid 'subscribtion' services that corporate investigation companies like Kroll and Interfor have access to. And of course if its on the internet someone is hacking into it.

I think it is an issue of anonymity.

bmussati - anonymity how? how doesn knowing or not knowing my plate (on the internet or driving down the freeway) have anything to do with you knowing who i am or not! if it were that big of a deal or really that easy that anyone could find you (oooohh big brother!) wouldn't we all have the special 007 revolving license plates, so the jackass that keeps riding your ass on the freeway doesn't figure out where you live - oh, that's right, he can just follow you home! my point is, that blacking your plate out may seem like something really necessary or like your disguising your identity - you're really not!

porscheracer - modded the beetle out just to make it a more interesting daily driver. wanted a stiffer suspension and sportier ride, better audio system and a car that just didn't look like everything else on the road. also, when i bought it, originally thought maybe this would be a car we'd keep in the family for a long time and as we added other cars, the beetle would get tweaked here and there as creativity saw fit. however, the 2.0 l engine has serious power limits and in leiu of shipping the car to hpa motors in canada and spending 15-20 grand to add a bi-turbo v6 and audi all wheel drive and turning the car into a 0-60 in 3.8s ferrari eater, i decided it was too much of a slug (don't go there!) funny thing is, started out feeling the same way about the box - it would be a car that we'd hold on to (the whole nostalgic - first porsche stuff) - oh well, some folks are never happy...

I have travelled all over the world and the women in Colombia are tops in the world in appearance and attitude. They look like models and will wait on their man hand and foot. The car is registered in Bogota but I live in Cartagena de Indias. There is one other Porsche in my city. In Bogota there are more but it is not common to see one. When I drive around people yell out "Oye Porsche!!" when they see me. I cannot drive for more than 5 minutes without someone yelling at the car. Girls on the street yell out that they want to sit in it or go for a ride. Others roll down the window of the car they are in and make gestures at me every time I drive around. Not that I am Mr. Stud or anything like that, but this is a different culture than the US. When I drive a similar type of car in Canada (my long forgotten home country) no one gave it a second look. And no, I am not married. That would be like paying for sand on the beach.
