I know some of you have multiple Porsches. What is the best/most informative 996 forum? Is there one like this?
Thanks.

renntech.org has a good 996 section with a lot of DIY and troubleshooting but not the level of discussion.like we have here.

Rennlist 996 is mostly helpful, but like mentioned, they can play kind of rough and enjoy being dicks sometimes. Best thing is to have tough skin and be a dick back to them if they start in on you. It's just their initiation to their club though - they really aren't bad guys.

I'll visit the other resources but this forum is by far the most active and in 98% of the time, the the most civil with responses. I certainly appreciate it!

I own a 996, and spend more time here then there.
It's imposible to follow a thread, or generate a discussion.
Almost always a simple DIY project (and you don't find a lot there) is bombarded by nonsens and negative comments by people who obviusely never held a screwdriver in their hands (Never the less a wrench).
I wish we could have a 996 section here, as I know a lot of guys here own both.
Anyway the 996 is 80% Boxster.. Ain't it?

A 996 is just a Boxster hardtop with the engine in the wrong place. This forum is by far the best and most applies to the 996. For the rest I rarely head ove to rennlist.

I'm the same way, more time here than there, and yes there is a higher level of BS there

I will say, I have met a few people from RL when they have been in San Diego and they have all been great guys as well as a few that live in San Diego

Agreed. There is almost zero Moderation on Rennlist. Zero editing of threads to remove trash.
Sadly ,well qualified contributors to the really difficult technical subjects get buried in ignorant abuse.Worse ,a few others pile on !
So the majority suffer when these experts just give up. Some of these experts now appear as 'anonymous guest experts' on another P-Car Forum. Without the contributions of those experts, Rennlist is much less useful. So far nobody at Internet Brands seems to have noticed ( or cares?)
Hopefully the Moderators here take note of Rennlist's failures and preserve the high standards here.

Why would you ever buy a 996 in the first place!!!
Look how civil our discourse is here. That ought to tell you everything you need to know about buying that minivan without a backseat...

For a purely technical forum with none of the camaraderie found here, RennTech.org. It is excellent for accurate diagnostic and DIY repair details but highly moderated and dry as a bone. I see JFP in PA and other pro wrenches in there often.

I'll get one for the same reason I got my 986.
Because!
The 996 makes just as much sense as my Boxster. But I'm not getting rid of my Boxster.

I got main for the extra 2 inches in the seat travel (without rubbing against the roll bar) and for the extra 115 Hp
Unfortunately I don't have my Boxster anymore, but this is just a matter of time until I get it back.
And when I say get it back, I mean buying my first Boxster back from my friend.

For me, it's mostly the ponies. If it doesn't handle quite as well as my 986S, it really doesn't matter much. I'm not driving the Boxster to its maximum capabilities anyhow.
