Get a ppi and even if it needs imsb, aos, wp and some of the other commons you are probably talking around 3 or 4k (assuming it doesn't need brakes incl rotors). If it checks out and doesn't need much you are taking around a 7K risk for a great car. If there are major questions based on the ppi just walk away. You are in NC, that price is great for a boxster S in my area (Mass). can't find anything close to that for an S in price around here... Even bases are more than that, even with that mileage. Bought my 03S a year ago for 12K, 76K miles. Good shape but needed brakes (rotors and pads) and I had the AOS and IMSB done among some other things. So I have a good chunk of change in it now, but the asking price was 14K and I talked him down to 12K based on the brakes... I'd say post some pics which would help in the review of the car, and any other info you have been able to gather on it...
