Driverside window question/problem

I tried to search, but don't even know the terms to use......

When I open the drivers side door, the window does not go down the 1/2 inch or so. I can physically push it down, and when I close the door it goes back up. If I use the switch, the window goes up and down fine, and if I put the top down the window works fine. Sometimes I think I can hear an odd sound when the window is going down, but I don't know if it is just in my head or not.

Any ideas on the problem, and/or how to repair?
