Long Time Lurker / First Time Poster

I've been reading these posts since two summers ago when we bought our 03 Base / 5 speed. There is a ton of knowledge on the forum. Now that the weather has turned for the better and it's out of storage I'm looking forward to putting some more miles on it!

Muzzle of Bees 04-28-2016 10:01 AM

The 03 should be a nice ride. Just be sure your miles include lots of curves. Makes for a lot more fun.

AmongstEnemies 04-28-2016 10:07 AM

how long was it in storage.........

FoxRvrBox 04-28-2016 10:22 AM

December thru April. Found heated space for a reasonable rate just down the street from where I work. I can't bring myself to run it in the and salt they put on the roads up here when it snows.

FoxRvrBox 04-28-2016 11:14 AM

Muzzle -- I really enjoy it. I find myself looking for the longest, curviest distance between two points

kk2002s 04-28-2016 11:33 AM

This is when the fun begins

CoBeerToad 04-29-2016 08:41 AM

I know the feeling. Mines been "under construction" for the past two summers and now it is finally in good enough shape to hit the roads.

See ya around neighbor.

I'm still baffled by the 12 year olds on this forum.

if you don't believe they own a box, then why don't you ignore them? and the people who trust the poster can proceed with business as usual.

so cringeworthy

"Pics or it didn't happen" is a standard (almost universal) greeting for new folks on internet forums that specialize on a certain something, be it a car, guns, watches, airplanes, or just about anything else. It is meant as a friendly encouragement

Welcome!

FoxRvrBox 05-04-2016 06:07 AM

No offense taken here -- glad to be in the club!
:D

Really AE?
12 year olds???

Asking for a pic is kind of a long time ongoing theme on this forum as well as others
similar to Timco asking a new member about both rear fog lights working.

BTW, have you checked to see if both rear fog lights work?

I was a bit puzzled by your username, until now...

Where I come from condemning someone as a liar the instant you come into contact with them is a bit disrespectful. Actually it's quite a repulsive practice. Maybe we didn't grow up drinking the same kind of milk.

HUH????

Where did I or anyone else call you a liar AE?
Now who is acting like a 12 year old???

paulofto 05-04-2016 06:58 AM

Wow! This thread took an abrupt turn for the worse.

Time to self moderate . . . . . . .or should I say medicate . . .

CoBeerToad 05-04-2016 07:00 AM

I love medicating.

Despite your poor attempts at trolling me, I'll give you a few minutes of my day to explain- but don't expect much more if you continue this nonsense.

When person A says "Hi guys I just bought a boxster",

and then immediately person B says "pics or it didnt happen", then person B is saying they don't believe that person A truly owns a boxster and is, in fact, accusing them of lying about their claim of owning a boxster.

So a new member comes in to say hello, hasn't really gotten to know the community yet and doesn't take the time to post pics with their first post. One of their first interactions with the community will be dealing with a bunch of strangers accusing them of being a liar. really fun time.

If you could follow the conversation, you would realize that I'm not talking about anyone calling me a liar in this instance, rather "jcslocum" insinuating that the original poster is lying.

Its tough, I know. You're doing great.

The tone of your response and flippant/excessive use of question marks is probably a good enough testament to your character.

WTF is your problem???
Trolling you???

You are reading far more into this than there is. It's all in good fun and part of welcoming someone. "Picks or it didn't happen" is an expression, not an attack. No one is calling anyone a liar.

As most here are enthusiasts, we like to see other peoples cars. To my knowledge, no one has been ostracized or kicked out of the forum for not posting a pic

And in any case I did not call you a liar and you come at me???

Of all the things to get your knickers in a twist. Maybe you should back off of the caffeine a bit?

Millennial?
Jonathan Lamebutt reincarnated?

If you bothered to read any of jcslocumn's posts, you would know that he is a nice, intelligent, and helpful person, not prone to calling anyone a liar, especially for not posting a pic

As far as the ??? That is called emphasis

Who died and left you in charge?????????????

A testament my character. That's a good one

I may actually have to use the IGNORE button for the first time

Welcome to the community Fox! Time to get out and enjoy the spring weather, twisty roads and fun behind the wheel.

Good looking '03!

FoxRvrBox 05-04-2016 08:42 AM

Thanks Mark! And thanks for the compliment on the car. It was super clean and low miles and we couldn't pass it up.

I guess you better. There are a lot more of us old farts on this forum than you think.

Oh yeah, it was guys our age who invented this whole interweb thing, BTW, so implying your generation has all the savvy when it comes to 'communicating on the internet' you just show how little you really grasp about 'communicating' The medium doesn't entitle people to be rude, sexist, racist or ageist.

Talk in here like you would if you were face to face. It is amazing how gracious people can be.

+ 986
could not have said it better myself ........

In addition to inventing the internet, most of the technology that is in use today was invented by us old farts as well. I was using e-mail back in the late 70's, before it was even called e-mail

FoxRvrBox - Beautiful 03 I must say  Significant difference the rear spoiler makes in comparison to my 2000. I know you just got it back on the road and all.....but let me know when you're ready to sell  lol

jcslocum 05-04-2016 11:17 AM

Allow me to apologize to FoxRvrBox and everyone else on the internet for my ignorant, insensitive and childish request for a picture. I'm a 12 year old in a 59 year old body. Just simple case of arrested development and lack of manners.

Oh the hell will that, I'm off to egg and toilet paper the old grouch's house down the street.

Nice Box Fox!!!

VGM911 05-04-2016 12:10 PM

Methinks AE is acting like a petulant 12-year-old. Time to send him to finishing school???

Get a grip bro - this is an internet forum, surely your familiar with Reddit, same premise but without the fake karma and circle jerks.

Welcome to the forum from another 03 Base 5spd owner. We love our old cars here. We feel the need, the need for (relative) speed....and the need to look at pictures of those like-minded ;)

Congrats
