I installed the water proof box in my 02 base. The hardest part of the project was pulling the drivers seat. You do indeed have to seal the harness's with rtv. I believe it is cheap insurance.

I installed one about 3 months ago. Pull the seat, take out immobilizer, put circuit board into new waterproof case and seal with ATV silicone. Easy! Worth the piece of mind. Just use lots of silicone around the wire bundle and it will seal up nicely.
