Dash Lights / Centre Console Lights
:dance:Hey guys, I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has changed their dash / centre console lights from that Orange to another colour (2001 S) ? Looking for DIY instructions and a place to buy the bulbs I need. Which bulbs do I require?
Thanks!
Dr.C

I never really did a DIY, but took lots of pictures.
Sadly, I had a mishap with my photobucket account a couple years ago and lost every last picture.
There are some good pointers and links to the LEDs here - http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/36014-changing-color-climate-control-switch-back-lights.html
Is your cluster pre-facelift or post? The older clusters are easy to do. The newer clusters require serious disassembly of the cluster and I've never done one.

FYI, dis-assembly of the post facelift gauges is really easy. Remove the cluster from the car, then remove 2 screws to separate the plastic shell of the gauges, then 4 screws to pull the main board to access the LEDs. It takes about 2 minutes.

Really? I was under the impression that needles and gauge faces needed to be removed to access them on the newer clusters...? That's great if they don't
Edit: IIRC, the lights behind the gauge faces do require complete disassembly of the faces, but not the LCD backlights. I'll see if I can find the thread.
As in, the LCD color can be changed easily, but not the gauge light color (or vice versa).

Does anyone know where I can get replacement lights in different colours? Which sizes do I need and how many?

Hahaha! Just messin with ya!
I was asking what year your car is. Does your cluster look like mine below, or does yours have the even larger center screen and smaller left and right screens (does your right-most LCD have clock AND oil gauge, or just a clock)?

Your cluster and center console looks SICK!!! In the utmost respectively positive way ever of course.
Props to that I don't have much soldering background, so I'm gonna steer clear from
attempting the center console, but I will get some red LED's for the cluster since my far left gauge just went out on me.

Thanks Randy!
Yeah, that amber/orange is very hard on the eyes. It was on my short list when I first bought the car 5 years ago. Highly recommend the color swap (red would be cool to see).

Oh YES... I can see this pic. Wow very cool - your cluster is different from mine. My right cluster only has a clock - the oil thing only comes up in my centre cluster then disappears.
ps. Dubaday - no worries about thread-jacking... all good
