Painting lug bolts
Anyone have a good way to paint them black so it does not just rub off as soon as you put them on?
I tried Kilz primer and Krylon gloss black paint and it just rubbed off as soon as I tightened then with a socket

I don't think there is a way to get the paint to survive the socket, especially if you use an impact gun. The expensive fix is stainless steel lug bolts. The cheap fix is plastic caps.

Powder coating is pretty tough, but I don't know if it is tough enough to withstand an impact wrench. Why don't you try it, and let us know how it works?

I was thinking that, but it would cost more than just buying black lug bolts LOL

The new Panorama has titanium bolts advertised for $275 per set. Is Fred making these again?

Have oddly had good results with plasti-dip. Wouldn't have expected it to hold up but maybe it's elasticity in the paint.

I painted mine with a very light coat of rustoleum spray can and they look good, if the paint is thin enough it will not crack, I only tighten my lugs by hand with a torque wrench and never with an impact gun

Buy the black plastic for 30 bucks and be done with it. They look nice. Don't have to worry about them.

Have the same issue. Tried painting, but that didn't last long at all. Was looking at the covers, but they won't cover the locking lug. (Went on Amazon and found bunches of different colors too. Thought that might be pretty neat.)
So I either need to buy 4 new lugs and 20 covers or come up with a solution to make the locking lug look pretty too.

For starters, throw away the locking lug bolts

Skip the so called "soft sockets" - i.e. ones sold by Pelican as they all have disclaimer about steel wheel bolts/lug nuts. Which of course most including factory ones are.
Cheaper/easier solution: either plastic-dip your 19mm socket or just wrap/line with electrical tape and renew as needed.
