Sorry for the slow reply but here's the link that answers a lot about wheel offset for the Boxster 986. Just look at the pics of Johnny Danger's yellow Boxster with 19x10 with 31 offset at the rear. http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/30248-19-vs-18-wheels-tires.html
Wish I could use 19" but mine's a '97 base so it's wiser to limit the size to an 18"

37 offset will fit and clear in the rear ...that's what I have in mine..19x10 37 0ffset
