986 Bonnet not springing up when latch activated

Hi all

I have had my Boxster s for a few weeks now and all is well apart from a couple of little niggles.

When I activate the release mechanism on the bonnet I hear the click to indicate that the latch has opened. However the bonnet does not spring up. I can manage to pull the bonnet up to allow me to work the lever to open the bonnet fully.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so is there an easy fix?

Is there a spring in the mechanism that can be replaced?

This may be irrelevant but the telescopic arms that keep the bonnet open seem tired and don't always keep it raised.

I am hoping to post some pics tomorrow

The spring in the release is worn. You must replace the entire unit. Try a Porsche recycler for a replacement.

You need new bonnet shocks. Replace both of them, Brand new you can find them for about $25-30 a pair.

Just sayin'............
