Rear Windscreen

[Muskoka Minute]

I have a 2004 SE with wind screens.

I have read on the forum some where that you should remove these when your parked or someone might do if for you.

I thought I read that they came with a storage case?

Can anyone confirm one way or another if this is the case.

I only run with them and the center blocker in the spring and fall.
All summer they stay in the garage cupboard.
If you want to use 'em, you could put the top up when you leave the car parked or put them in the trunk.
Mine have no storage cases, but I had a soft case made for the clear plexi blocker.

use black Silicone II,
"glue" it in, it's temporary, you can pry it loose or use dental floss, but it's a pita, and takes more time than a theif wants to spend.

but a few minutes after it's out you can rub all the silicone off.
in the clips it's invisible, just clean it all well first.

and it won't rattle anymore.

The plexiglass bit originally came with a simple soft cloth bag for storage. They pop up on ebay from time to time.

When I first got my Boxster, and what I read on this forum and how expensive these items were, I got paranoid and removed them every time I left the car (I keep the top down all summer). But after a year or two of doing this, it became bothersome, so now I don't worry about it. And mine came with a cloth case for the plexiglass and if you angled it just right, it would fit into the cubby in the back.

If I remember correctly, the cloth case that came with my windscreen was a pretty cheap looking bit of kit. If you really need a case, buy some nice fabric and have someone handy with a sewing machine make one for you.

I zip tie my roll bar mesh screens. Not theft proof, but at least a deterrent. The center plexiglass is not secured in any way. I have the black soft cloth bag for its storage - I wedge it behind the spare during cold weather months when the top stays up. My wife doesn't let me walk away from the car with the top down when it's warm.

+1 Zip Tie
I drilled a small hole in center wind screen to zip tie it as well.
Wasn't as a theft preventive but I was afraid of popping out on the Hwy.

My centre windscreen is in place 24/7 365 days. Maybe if I lived in a big city or high crime area - but out here in small town Ontario, totally not worried about it.

Do you find any issues with in cabin air flow to the rear window in winter? I recall seeing that it is suggested it be taken out to not impede air flow for defrosting. I'd just as soon leave it 24/7/365.

No need to worry. I've tested above 200km/h and it stays put.
