When I first got my Boxster, and what I read on this forum and how expensive these items were, I got paranoid and removed them every time I left the car (I keep the top down all summer). But after a year or two of doing this, it became bothersome, so now I don't worry about it. And mine came with a cloth case for the plexiglass and if you angled it just right, it would fit into the cubby in the back.
