Key Fob remote function not working after Vacation

Well I just got back from a trip to Spokane. I went to re-sync the keys to the car only to find out after syncing the remote function still would not work.

A week before I left for my trip I bought a new battery for the key fob from lordco ( local auto parts store). The light on the remote was blinking brightly, I did not think it was a battery problem. I ended up going to a battery booth in the mall, switch it out went to the car clicked the lock button the car honked / indicator lights went on for a bout 1 second then the key worked flawlessly.

Just incase anybody else has this problem try a new battery

Perhaps this is unrelated, but: if you arm the alarm in your car and return 7 days later, the remote will not work. You'll have to use the key to manually unlock the door. Once you start the car, the remote will be functional again.

Our cars "go to sleep" after a period of time and the remote system is typically 5-7 days.
as KJC said unlock the door with the key and then press the button on the remote and it should come back to life

IIRC, this is covered in the manual
