What do you have on your porsche doors for protection (if any). Mine are somewhat chipped up, I'm the second owner and I don't want anymore chips or dings to happen on the edges. Ive seen the rubber stuff and now I'm hearing about magnetic strips. What do you think works the best? I'm really looking for opinions from people who actually have the products on their cars. Thanks in advance.

Touch up the chips in the door first. Auto parts stores carry door edge guards in different colors. It needs to be applied in over 60 degree weather. It just goes on the door edge and has an adhesive to keep it there. Just cut off the excess and you are set.

Don't use those ugly thick protection strips!
This clear protection film is much less obvious - you can hardly see it and it still protects the edge. It usually costs about $12.00 and is long enough to do 3 or 4 doors.

With what? Like a paint pen? Where can I get one that's an exact match?

I buy from Autotouchup.com in LA. I am not affiliated but have purchased from them. They have exact match color codes and you can get spray cans and touchup pens. I have been using their paint to paint the Black interior pieces and looks great.

I just took a look at automotivetouchup. My car is a 2001, the only color they had was silver so I looked for 2000 and they had lots of colors. My paint code is L3A8 its blue but I dont know the exact name. Probably oceanic metallic blue. In the pic I attached it'll show what I think are the closest options for me. Which do you think will work best? L3AY or L3AZ

You can play with the colors even mix them if you get the brush on type that looks like nail polish, I was lucky I found an exact match to guards red in a rustoleum spray can, I spray a little inside the cap, let it dry a minute or two and use a toothpick to apply little drops in the chips and it works great, I do not like the protection strips and rather fix the chips once in a while

Like I said, regarding the touch ups, it came with some chips on the door edges already. As far as not opening my door into anything, I'd like to say I and my passengers are 100% careful all the time, but...

No offense to the OP, but door edge guards on a sports car (especially a Porsche) just seems dorky.

None taken, if i hate it i'll take it off. But this isnt a 2016 911 gt3 its a 2001 porsche boxster with 88,000 miles lol. It's lived a little and I dont want it to be a garage queen.
