they should have renamed the Boxster "711"...for the better sounding phonetic flow...and a little cross marketing :D

I just wait until a 1.5l triple turbo is introduced...with 500hp and electronic sound support and better fuel economy

As if anyone driving a Porsche really cares, honestly. :D

On a little side note:
I've never understood the phony electronic engine sound that's being incorporated into some of the vehicles these days. Does that really do anything for anyone? It's like being a kid pretending to drive a car and going "rum! Rum-rum! Ruuuuuuuuuummmm!!!"
It's like having an electronic mirror that makes you look like a supermodel, only... You don't look like a supermodel and when you go out you just look like yourself to the rest of the world.
Sorry for getting a bit off track, but since part of this thread is about how things are changing, this is my wish that Porsche never does anything so sad. Let a car be what it's going to be.

Playing sound through the speakers has always reminded me of this ridiculous product I saw on Pimp my Ride many years back. Can't believe they still sell them.

VroomBox.com

“Instead of paying $500-$700 to improve the exhaust sound with an aftermarket Cat Back why not pay $159 and make your RX-8 sound like a 71’ Hemi Cuda?”

Can you call a 996 a 911?

I have heard plenty of people referring to a 996 as a 911, but nobody calling a 911 a 996.
That said, when I buy my 10 year old, salvage title 718, I'm gonna re-badge it as a 986. :D

Sorry, I've been out of town for a few days buying another Boxster. I wasn't referring to this forum or this thread in particular but was speaking in general terms across multiple communities. I haven't heard many happy campers with the whole turbo line-up & 4 cyls in our cars.

I'd take one, 4 cyl or not. I think its a great looking car and I bet it'll be a blast. That being said, I'll be hanging onto my 2000S until these get way older and come WAY down in price!
