Cost of Vanity Plates

I was checking out the cost of vanity plates here in Ontario. The plates I want would cost me $336! Was just curious about the cost of vanity plates in other provinces, and states?

In California they offer eleven plate imagines; Environmental, 1960 Legacy, Pet Lovers, Agriculture, Memorial, Coastal, Tahoe, Yosemite, Arts, Veteran and Kids. Depending on which you choose the initial fee is from $48 to $98. And, again depending on which plate you have, there is an annual charge of $38 to $78.

Oklahoma is $23, then an annual renewal of $20. It takes 3-4 months to get the plate though and there is no way to verify if the one you request is available. You submit six choices and get the first of them that is available.

$50 here in Alabama, we have a neat site where you can search your verbiage to see if it is available and then request it. We also many different plates like most states....my choice was the Space Program with that big Saturn V....easy peasy here

Once again Australia leads the way.
Queensland Roads can change the colour of your current plates (from green to black) for a bargain $150. www.ppq.com.au
However, if you would like a personalised 5 digit jobbie, that will be $450 thankyou, while a "prestige" (??) plate will cost you a measly $900 to $4000 depending on number of characters - the fewer the more $$.
But you do get 2 plates for your money 'cos if you are caught driving with only one plate (say at the back), there's a rather significant several hundred dollar fine......

Here is Illinois, the yearly registration costs about $13 more per year for a vanity (letters only or numbers only) plate ($101 vs $114). The actual plate costs about $94 more in the initial purchase. We also have personalized plates ($108), which cost a little less, and require a combination of letters and numbers.

A personalized plate costs $50 extra every year you have the plate. My "PORSCHE" plate costs me a total of $104.50 per year with the state and local fees.

The 5 digit plate on my box is technically a "vanity" plate. It was $90

4 digit plates (like on my daily) are not available for purchase, so I can't say there is a price.

In Arizona there $25 for the play and $25 a year for renewal. There are literally over 20 types to pick from. Last time I was in a independent registration place they had them all up on the wall to pick from and take with you the same day. Thankfully Arizona requires just the rear plate so they only give you one.

Here in Poland, the one-time fee for "individualized" plates is about $280. The first two characters are predetermined by region, you can customize the other five.
