Frost on the windshield and roof this morning in LA. Some might say that hell finally froze over!

You .. leave .. the .. Porsche .. outside .. all .. night! Ahhhhhhhh

Considering where the prices of air cooled Porsche have gone I believe it's a crime to leave them outside. I mean literally a crime. The Porsche Police will take you to jail! And, its a Porsche felony. We're talking going to the big house, Hoosegow, mainline joint, skinner joint, stoney lonesome, con college, glasshouse, bucket, club fed, greybar hotel, big house, slammer, calaboose, castle, cooler, country club, crowbar hotel, digger, farm, guardhouse, hole, joint, jug, juvie, pen, pokey, rock, sneezer, stockade, the clink.

But, you're right Tom, it has been real cold for Los Angeles!

It's that damned 'el Nino' kids fault. It was warmer in Buffalo NY, the other day, than it was here.

I live in Orange County and left my car outside last night and actually had to scrape ice off my windshield and the engine cranked a bit before it started

Trick : Spray a little isopropyl on the windshield like you would windex. Ice and frost practically fall off.

We do get frost once in a while here. Even a bit of snow on the ground every 10 years or so. I do believe it is a felony to leave a Porsche outside in the cold on a winter night though.

For windshield de-icing I just run a hose over it for a moment and the ice washes away. This may not be nearly as effective in Nebraska or Wisconsin in winter but it worked for me on my work truck today. I don't recommend this for a 70s Targa as the top moisture seal is really just a suggestion.

Did you have TV reporters remoting from driveways explaining to ppl what that was on their windshields? I'm sure ppl were freaking out. Don't TV stations go nuts whenever it rains? They have to remind ppl how to drive and to not look up in the sky when it's raining or you'll drown?

So true! I've lived in the Los Angeles area my whole life and still laugh when the news stations announce we are on "Storm Watch". Yeah, storm watch for 1/2 inch of rain! It's true. Then, when the 1/2 of rain comes in they are live at the storm channel (aka the LA River - True!) showing the water flow. LAFD deploys a quick water rescue response team because some folks are dumb enough to find themselves in the water. And, lets not talk about how the drive in the rain in Los Angeles. Oh well.... at least I can drive the Boxster throughout the year. Except when it rains.

I knew that someone would take me to task for that!

My only excuse is laziness. The Boxster is on the lift for all of the end of racing season work and I was too lazy to swap cars around to get the 911 under cover on the other side. And yes, I was too lazy to throw the car cover on the 911 too.

That is also why I didn't post this to my Facebook page - the air cooled crowd would have been in an uproar!

Whine, whine, whine! All you Californians do is whine about trivial things like droughts, earthquakes, forest fires, locusts, and now a little frost on your cars. Sheesh!

I don't have any pics of it buried in the snow in the driveway, unfortunately, but until it goes under the knife it's my winter "beater"

I do have pics from my previous Boxster that got totaled last winter as I was able to stop, in the snow, at a stop light, but a 4WD Excursion couldn't

Will a couple of laps from where it will live suffice? It at least gets me itching for warmer days...

You want pics? I've got pics. A mess courtesy of the brine that's laid down to keep the streets from becoming slick. Thankfully the main streets are now dry.

30 min & $2.50 in qtrs. later...

Now you can see my new black spars. Will be lying low for a few days to keep her clean.
