I will add to the gushing love for this part :-)

Really came out nice. Probably time for you to start a "list" of those that want to get in line for one...

Tell us again about how you attached it? I see the 3 facing screws, but was there double sided tape on top of the stock spoiler as well?

Thanks for all your efforts!

That looks great! but the color is distracting.

Can you roll the car outside for some better pics, and maybe take pics in black&white?

Derfo, that is a thing of beauty my friend!! Sign me up for one, when you are ready to roll!!

Hello Dlirium;

Thanks for your positive comments. I will make a list at some point. The spoiler is attached with the original plastic rivets in the photos. Its important to retain an original fixing there so it doesn't look like an add on. In addition were the spoiler meets the top rail in the unseen area it could be bolted, fixed with compound or double taped as you mention. I did say in the early post that it would be bolted to the top rail.
The stock spoiler has lugs on one side of the rail, so it sort of hooks over and then the rivets are inserted. This would be very hard to replicate on a spoiler like this as there would have to be twist in it to get it on the rail. this spoiler will be too rigid to do that. I will put captive nuts in the spoiler for bolting, but in the end it would be up to each individual.

derfo I would like to suggest a group buy for 986 forum members. You would specify a group buy price and you would honor that price for a specific time frame. The price can be contingent on a minimum qty sold. We can pay you via credit card or paypal or payment of your choice. Just something to think about. If you were to venture on an educated guess when you will be ready would that be a month from now ? Or 3 months or 6 months ? Not trying to nail you down to a specific date just a ballpark guess. I am interested regardless of time frame.

Looking good man! As I said before this the way to do a 986 spoiler!

It might be good to develop a bolted mounting arrangement in place of the rivets. I believe it should be straight forward to install captive nuts in the rivet hole locations. I am not sure what to do about fastening the rear edge.

Did you consider a slight blending or filleting of the side surfaces and to the trailing edge....this may not give a good overall appearance

More pictures!!

Simply amazing. You are an artist. With that said, the only change I would make is round the outer edges in like a duck tail. Boxster is curved (like a 911) so a bit more curve might look better. Though not sure it would look as good as yours does in the up position. Just my 2 cents. Anyways, congrats again, I am jealous of your talent.

Agree with last two posters, you nailed the concept and front-to-back contour looks great, but the sides look unresolved. Could you round the side profile and pull it back into the trailing edge? If so, I might be up for one.
Nice work so far!

This looks awesome! Put me down for one once complete!

well, let me put this out for consideration - the flat sides on the ducktail allow for the mounting of uprights and install of a proper spoiler - it's how ruf did it - ducktail on the street, full spoiler at the track. the ruf unit is bigger however; uncertain if this would be robust enough for the application.

ps, excellent looking item - the 986 has been waiting for this for a long time.

Are you planning to paint it the color of the car, I would love to see that

Count me in too!! However, I agree with some of the other posters about if you could round out the sides to conform with the shape of the rear and taillights. That would look phenomenal but I understand it would require some more work.

Could you also post a full shot of the rear from a distance when done.

I really like the shape and size of the new Spyder spoiler.

Hello everybody

I will try to make up a small section with the rounded over ends to see what you think. Before I do anything to my yellow pattern. On a personal note I like it as it is, I thought of rounding over the ends but thought it would not look right, as I wont be able to follow the thin edge round to the base. Anyway I will fix a small section on the car and see.
