I'm messing with you. Enjoy the car, I ignored this thread after the first post, I like to let ones like this sit for a while and to take it all in later on.

Enjoy your car. That third gear pull you felt is what the car is about. The noise and sound and the fact that you can do that exiting a corner. Find a twisty road and have fun.

Lol ok but seriously check the gear oil... Is it normal to be a little stiff? It doesnt bother me just wanted to know if i need to check into it. I was sitting in it at lunch and found a paper in the pocket that was a receipt for a short shifter... But the shifter is still factory looking cover. So i guess i should look under the cover and see what i have in there.

Ok third gear... Or any gear. You guys didnt need to sand bag on the info lol this car is totally different over 4k rpms. The ride home was on a fun road and i really opened it up. I didnt want to shift over 6k but keeping it over 4k was quite a thrill wow what a fun ride!!!

Im really not into going fast but i had to see lol i got it up there pretty high on a long straight way... High lol good thing those cows were put away ha ha

Oh.... Oh and ya driving school.... I showed that car who was boss ... Just sayin... Just sayin lol

If you do have a short shifter it could be a bit stiffer. The stock one can be a little stiff until the tranny is warmed up a little. Since you don't know the service history, it would not hurt to change all the fluids including the trans fluid. Generally it is best to use Porsche trans fluid. It is a 90k service IIRC as well. If you do have a short shifter and would rather have a stock one, I am sure you would have no problem either selling it here of doing a swap with someone.

don't be afraid to take her all the way to red line, there is a rev limiter and in any case it wont hurt the motor. many would agree that it is actually a good idea to run it really hard every now and then to clear out the cob webs. Power does start to drop off a little around 6500.

Where the Boxster really excels in in the twisties. A higher HP car may pull away in the straights, but you will be crawling up their ass in the turns, even a 911.

Still say, no matter how good a driver you may be, getting an instructor on a closed course will allow you to really see what the car can do and unless you are Patrick Long's clone, the car will probably have more capability than you do. It would also give you the opportunity to see how far you can push it before it will spin on you. A Boxster is pretty hard to spin, but once it starts, it really hard to recover and you are along for the ride

if it is a short shifter i'll stay with it i prefer short. not sure on the tires. i'll have to look. i know they are soft, i could sink my finger nail in it like the ones on my vette. as far as breaking it loose... it did break loose on me this morning around a corner in 2nd gear... scared the ___ out of me cuz it whipped fast, but like a champ .... i recovered lolol gotta love my arrogance guys lol

i'm sure i would enjoy a course in driving with this car but i will probably never head down state to do it. we are happy hermits out in the country.

so I've been so busy defending vettes and my driving skills that i haven't said much about the car as far as what all it is or posted up to many pics. soooo like mentioned in another post i was considering a miata or a datson z and found this porsche online about 2 hours from me at suburban ford in sterling heights. it was listed for $7400, had 99k on the odometer and said it was clean with no rust. when i called the sales person said the only thing they could find wrong with it was a rip in the cover by the window but it had the hard top as well. said he had three people on there way to buy it including someone in transit driving up from ohio. so i bought it over the phone to hold it. pics below are ones i just took before it got dark. the last pic.... i have some mad body skills and by the end of next summer it might... might look like that
