No, I don't think they do...I know they do.
A helluva lot more than none at all.
If anything, owners should consider adding mesh, not taking away what is already there.

I have never had a problem with overheating or the grills getting clogged up with stuff...Never in my 3 years of owning the car

The stock "grill" won't stop anything going in !
The 981 and 987 don't have much either.
