Are clean cars faster?

Every time I wash the Boxster it feels so much quicker. A third gear pull from 3k is like lightning not to mention how much louder and throatier the intake sounds.

Do others have similar experiences?

Have you ever washed the car, and did an oil change in the same day? Amazing!

If you hit for the Porsche cycle and change the air filter and cabin filter you add 30 hp.

I experienced the greatest performance boost when I installed the two tiny rubber tips / edges on the plastic trims in front of the rear wheels. I swear it runs quieter and stealthier. Hugs the ground more.

This commercial that UPS ran back in the day claimed that they washed their planes because it reduced drag.

That should make their planes fly faster for the same throttle setting.

Seems like the same would hold true for washing our Boxsters.

"A clean Boxster is a faster Boxster."

Plus, it's more fuel efficient.

A good wax job will reduce aero drag even more.

The dirt track Sprint car guys spray their cars with stuff to keep the mud from sticking.

I've always felt like an oil change makes it feel faster and the engine sound just a little sweeter!

The Scientific Response

Everyone knows that the formula for the drag coefficient

CD = (2*FD)/(ρ*v2*A)

Where the coefficient of drag equals two times the f**king dirt, divided by the constant rho times twice the velocity of your Boxster times the speed of the Ahole in front of you holding you up.

You're welcome.

I bled the brakes, changed the oil, and washed the car all in the same day!

Are clean cars faster?

Well, i'm not shure. Since i have my new spoiler package on my ricer it seems to be slower in rain. And rain means in general that the car is cleaner:

BTW: also improved my home office:

Regards
Markus

Hot blonde in the passenger seat always increases it +25HP. Mind you it always decreases my wallet size by 25% too.

I don't know about the clean part, but it is clearly faster with the top down.
