Took a hit today...

An SUV backed into me in a parking lot...she got a scratch on her lower rear bumper and me...well it's more than just a scratch. Her only comment was "I didn't see you, your car is so small" yikes...

That's usually the response from someone who isn't paying full attention.
Your insurance guy will probably want to replace that welded on quarter panel.
Find a body man who will straighten that rather than cut and replace. PM me if you like, I know a shop in Kitchener that are magicians with crumpled sheet metal and paint matching.

Ouch! I'm sorry man! That exact area on my '99 has been worked at some point so I'm guessing it suffered a similar fate. But it looks great and I couldn't tell until my body man mentioned it while fixing some hail dings.

And yes, it's darn near impossible to see a small car behind you when you're on the phone and eating a hoagie. That excuse always drives me up the wall. It's like they're trying to shed the blame and make it your fault.

Sorry to see this! The rear quarters are one of the worst places to get hit because its not a bolt on repair like the front fenders, doors, bumpers, etc. But a good body shop can repair it so that no one will ever know it happened. Keep us appraised of the repair process.

Ouch man....that is a bad spot as mentioned!! I feel for you man.

A good shop with metal shrink machines and hammer man is in order....they will have to get in behind there though.....It's amazing how metal will find its way back to its former shape. You will loose the e-coat on the fender though. It's likely the door will have to be painted as well

As mentioned cutting and welding in a new panel is to be avoided....in my opinion

Your comments made me laugh out loud for the first time since the accident so thank you! And yes she is definitely paying for all repairs through her insurance company. I have Heidi booked in Oct.26 for major surgery...will keep you all up to date on the progress! Thank you for all the kind words...it helps lessen the pain.
