Although the weather here has been beautiful, it is in fact October so I should probably look into good rain, winter tires. We only occasionally get snow here, but will often have cold temps. So does anyone have a recommendation for a good AS tire?

Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS
I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 on my 996 and they are very noisy http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=201 |
Geez. About a quarter of the reviews for those tires (amazon) are one star.

who buys tires on amazon anyway? |
Ok, those bad reviews were referring to the previous version of the tire. Apparently, there were a number of side wall blow-outs. These should be fine for the winter.

Had a set of the Conti EC-DWS tires (previous version) on Party A's daily and they were good - especially for price. Quiet, smooth and good in snow. Not longest tread life but sufficient. Replaced once over and would have again but traded it in.
Good luck :) |
Yeah it looks like the Conti DWS 06 are in my near future! I hope they handle reasonably well in the dry.

I've had those Continental DWSs on my weekender for a couple of years and have really liked them.
Been through several potholes and construction zones and haven't blown one out yet. ;) Firestone Firehawk on the other hand..... got the lifetime warranties on them because I had to replace blown sidewall tires so often. |
