How do you clean the inside of your windshield?
Mine was getting hazy, I suppose from the dash and interior off-gassing in the afternoon heat? Anyway, it proved resistant to normal cleaning with typical glass cleaner, just leaving streaks. Eventually I got most of the haze gone, but it required a lot of polishing. Is there a better way?

I use dry newspaper. Works like a charm. Use regular glass cleaner and scrunched up newspaper, but replace the newspaper when it gets saturated or else it will streak like regular cloths.
|
I've tried the newspaper and I have better luck with clean terrycloth towels and Windex. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 cleanings to get all the crap off.

I used a piece of clay bar on mine. What it took of the window was incredible. Now it is much easier to clean with a terrycloth and streak free Window cleaner. I will do that once or twice a year now.

Stoner Invisible Glass is the bomb . I use a waffle weave microfiber

That stuff works great. I get 4 or 5 cans when it goes on sale. |
Stoner Invisible Glass Reach & Clean Tool
I use this thing for the inside of the windshield. It makes it super easy to get down by the dash. For the outside a glass cleaner micro fiber cloth with some invisible glass cleaner followed by a thicker drying micro fiber cloth. |
+1 on that reach & Clean tool. I have had one for years...

Autozone had $5.00 off if you buy the Stoner tool and invisible glass last week. I picked it up and must say, I am impressed.

Rain X makes a product to prevent fogging. I haven't tried it though.
Last night I polished the glass with my Porter Cable and Griot's Garage glass polishing pad and their glass polish. That was nearly 10 years worth of pollution, grit and stains that were gone in 10 minutes. |
Perfectlap, you polished the inside of the window or the outside?

Denatured Alcohol
I tried this and had pretty good luck with a microfibre towel, then I cleaned it with Invisible Glass and still this is a ongoing struggle...for some reason my E36 seems to be worse than my Boxster (and that windshield is only 3 years old)

I had a thin film all over my car last week - I think I had been behind a car on the freeway that was leaking coolant! I had to clay bar the car so I thought I would clay bar the windscreen & windows too - It made a BIG difference, a lot of muck came of the windscreen so I did it twice and then polished with Invis. Glass.
Cleaning the inside is easier if you sit in the passenger seat, again I use Invisible Glass, takes a couple of goes - I guess a lot of grease comes out of our mouths when we breath! |
