Goodbye!

Sure, you gave the old beater character, but no one needs THAT much character!
Going "under the knife" in the morning.

I'll have to do a similar surgery on mine in the next year.

In the mean time though I found wetsuit repair glue sealed out the elements perfectly and remains very flexible.

I'd be interested in hearing how you are going to fix your window.

I have not decided on a strategy for mine yet.

I figure these are the options:

> Replace top with plastic window.
> Replace top with glass window.
> Get new plastic window sewn in
> Replace top with 2003 used top, with glass window, from salvage yard as a complete unit, frame and all, plug-n-play.
> ???

LOL, practically oozes it, doesn't it?

Thanks JayG, the addiction is strong so it would be hard to leave for real.

I'm going with a new top with glass window.
The top, while still good, is starting to get pretty faded and dry, developing wear spots.
I first was going to just put in a new plastic window, but most estimates were running either side of $600 and it doesn't take at all long for the plastic to start scratching and clouding up, especially on a daily driver used in all weather. It's a Haartz top with retro-fitted glass window so it will fit my '99 without any modifications. It seemed like the most logical choice overall.
I'll let you guys know the final result and final bill when I get it back, hopefully by tomorrow from what I was told.
