986 alarm going off when disconnections battery

Hi I am a new porsche 986 owner 2.7 2002 model.

I wanted to remove dash binnacle but when I disconnect battery the alarm goes off I have to re connect put key in ignition d turn to position 2 to stop it
Is there a way of disabling it or do I need to leave key in the ignition and if so in any particular position I an based near Bristol

Any replies would help Thanks

From memory I believe key in ignition step 1 when you disconnect battery stops back up siren from sounding.

If you disconnect the siren is there a procedure for that? It has a backup battery.
