Window motor - switch testing?

I recently tried the bike brake barrel hack and needless to say it did not go as planned. I removed the regulator from the car and hooked up the motor but it won't turn over. The passenger side won't turn on either. But when the top goes down I can see the motor on the driver side turning. How do I test it and why is the passenger windows in disabled mode???
