Not for sale but sold
I was at a dealership today looking at a Mercedes SLK 230.A gentleman came up and asked if I was trading my Boxster.I said I was just looking and he said everything is for sale and asked what I would sell my car for.Out of the clear blue I said $12,000 and he said sold.I was speechless. He gave me $1000 deposit and is coming Monday to pick up the car.Not intending to sell the car that was a deal I could not pass up.I'm slill speechless.I guess I will buy the SLK,a 2004 with 71000 miles on it.The reason I was looking at the SLK is it is an automatic and with my diabetes it is getting hard to shift with my bad feet.

well, maybe...if it was a 98 with 140k miles, yeah - you killed it
A 2004 S with 60k miles, HE stole it...
Either way, congrats and enjoy the new car!

As I recall he has a 1999 base in the 90,000 mile range.

Why downgrade to a Mercedes? Why not just go with a Tip Boxster?

Yes, 1st gen SLK does not drive anything like a Boxster, better ride comfort though. Manual trans is terrible!
