Not much in its current condition. I think you would get more for it in the long run if you paid the $3000 for the transmission R&R. Either way, good luck.

KBB says that the Blue Book is around $8000. Subtract $3K for the failed transmission. Car should be worth about $5K, but there is substantial risk to the buyer when purchasing a car that doesn't drive (there could be other things wrong).

With that being said, you should be able to get $4,000-$4,500. Most people will offer something in the high $3's.

I'd be interested in the wheels if you part the car out

PM sent regarding a couple options: ZP 5HP19 FL transmission from an Audi A6/A4, or VW Passat. Sell engine and Roller separately. You could make more money parting it, but that's lots of time and work and besides, it is still a good car that just needs a repair.

No reason to get offended, you can politely drop the offers... or buy a transmission and fix the car

The reality is that a running Miata may very well be worth more than a broken Boxster.

A broken Porsche presents a large risk to the buyer. Many things can't be inspected or tested adequately in a non-driving car.

I bought my 97 Boxster with a failed engine. Seller swore 20 times that the engine was the only issue - everything else "perfect".

After replacing the engine, it still cost me $1,800 to fix everything else that was "perfect".

I'm not implying that you would mis-represent your car, but many others have. Therefore buyers have to be conservative and assume that there may very well be something else wrong that will require repair.

As the owner of an extensively improved Miata SE and a broken Boxster S ,I reluctantly concur with Mr.Stone.

You might rethink that. It takes but a few minutes on eBay or craigslist to see what bad-motor Boxsters are going for (and often still not selling very easily).

That's why I offered him 3k because I was going to drive to AZ and have our toy hauler with us, we can tow it or I can send it home.

I swear I want a v8 986

To Mr Landa

my Boxter has a very strong engine or I would not have spent $750.00 to have the broken tranny removed. If I can't get $5000.00 for it I will rethink, but not the price.I will have it fixed and keep on driving it.If all You going to do is lowball me,please don't bother Me.

...but this is not a "bad-motor". It's a bad Tiptronic.
IMO: The best option if you don't want to pay the $3k to repair it, buy a ZF 5HP19 FL from a 98-03 VW Passat, or Audi A4/A6 and swap the externals over. They are all over eBay for about $600.

If you want to sell it for $5K, sell the engine for $2200 to $2,500 and sell the Roller (otherwise complete) for $3,000+. If the transmission is already out. It is not much more work to remove the engine.
