Tiptronic problem - Gear sensor A out of specified range

Hi Guys,

I have a 2004 boxster tiptronic S.

The car has been flicking between 4 and drive and tiptronic not working. If I have my local mechanic do a scan and clear the code, the tiptronic works PERFECTLY, but 24 hours later the fault comes back.

The scan shows up as GEAR SENSOR A - OUTSIDE SPECIFIED RANGE. I don' have the code as i just lost my phone which had a picture of the code!

Can anyone tell me 100% what sensor this is referring to?

In regards to the tiptronic switch which connects to the transmission, I put the car on a ramp today and took the connector switch apart and cleaned the head with contact cleaner.
