Jumping out of cruise control

Elo guys....I just got back from driving a thousand mile round trip in my 2001 Boxter S , and the car was flawless in every department sept one .
I was cruising along I95 doing around 85mph , I switched the cruise control on after a few miles It jumped out of cruise by Its self , hmm so I thought ok switched It back into cruise control It did the same thing again ,It probably did It about eight to ten times during the trip. I'm thinking maybe Its a faulty switch or connection .
Anybody else have/had this problem ? Id be curious to know what It was.

Thanks..........

My first guess would be that one of the switches on the brake or clutch are triggering by themselves (faulty) and disengaging the cruise control. Both switches are easy to replace. They look very similar, but I do not know if they are interchangeable. I would probably start with the brake switch, since that has likely seen more use/wear.
