Sport Classic II wheels

Was there ever a Sport Classic II 18 wheel size that would support a wider tire such as 245s....for up front? Perhaps there were later ones under the 996 number that were wider

Porsche offered an 8J x 18" front Sport Classic II wheel on the 996.

PN 993 362 136 50

The 996 wheel has an ET of 52 vs ET of 55 on the Boxster front wheel, so you "might" need a 5 mm spacer to push the 996 wheel out a bit.

Thanks! I must admit the BBS numbers perplex me. So 8j will support 245s ? I would assume all would be good as it's the same front end especially in S trim.

Anyone with a feel for 18" 245s upfront on a Boxster and it would affect handling?

I am on 225s with 15mm spacers now; -1.5; still lots of room.

My tires are burnt so I need to figure out what should stuff in there.

What size are you running in the rear? What tires are you considering?

In general, reducing the stagger (front width closer to the rear width) will reduce understeer/increase oversteer. This is generally good - up to a point.

This is my experience on various sized tires (17" wheels, with 255 rears);

205 front - lots of understeer
225 front - understeer
235 front - more balanced but still understeer
245 front - not tested
255 front - oversteer (larger wheels/needs adj sway bars to balance to neutral)

265 with 23mm spacers.....the back end is pretty rock solid unless I have a gummy melted tread block or its wet.....its wide back there

I am likely going with sport cup 2s since they will be coming out in 18s
