Driver's side only.
Passenger side is for engine compartment cooling fan.
Try crios mod too for added vroom sound.

There are these extended elbows that act like silencers on the intake. Remove and place rubber freeze plugs in them. See if you like the added intake roar. It can be irritating at times and this mod is easily reversable

Don't think mine's been removed, but the sound is already fabulous.

Sure acceleration from low speed but even a highway pass not downshifting.

Very civilized and high class. Don't need raucous.

In the open holes once you remove the silencer

I hope you are talking just about the snorkel because if you removed the silencer and did not cover the hole then you would have a massive air leak bypassing the mass air flow sensor and not covering the hole.

I only removed the snorkel as described many times in this forum and the sound is intoxicating . I took a 2 hour drive and it ran perfectly with no codes or drivability issues. I am not aware of any need to block the hole, it is the same hole that the snorkle plugs into .

Then you are not removing the items I am speaking of. I am not saying it's better. Its just easier to reverse. The elbows are silencers too, they reduce resonance. Remove the resonaters and now you hear all of it.

Tried removing it. Sounded like a 16 yr old with a shop vac trying to sound like a hot rod.

The de snorkel mod has been done by countless people on this forum. Whereas it may not be for everyone, I think that the majority find the added intake "music" rather pleasant......and you really only notice that added sound when you are standing on the gas pedal. Less "spirited" driving and you'll likely not notice a difference. It certainly does not sound like a shop vac on my '01 S......if it did, I would have put mine back in.

No, it doesn't.
Not even remotely close to anything like that.
Are you sure you removed the correct part? Based on your description, you absolutely did not.

Mine just sounded better

I like when it is idling I can give the gas pedal a quick tap with my foot and hear the immediate intake or gasp of air...then the better sound.

It's as if the engine is taking a quick deep breath. Have to say that I like to do that too!
