986 headlight lenses

I have a 2001 Boxster S. Both of the internal headlight lenses are burned due to a previous owner running hot bulbs. I have the correct bulbs now but the burnt lenses are ugly. I have looked for used headlight assemblies. Many have burned lenses if they are not burned they are very expensive.

Can you buy new lenses and disassemble the headlights and replace the lenses? Has anyone done this? What were the results?
