Great Job. What rotors are they?

Mark_T 04-22-2015 07:46 PM

Nice job on the paint. It all looks brand new.

Thanks all.Brake rotors are the Zimmermann Coat Z Cross-Drilled,Pads Textar and Oem senors.Everything fit on with no problems.Price came out to just under $560.00Canadian + shipping to Canada from Pelican parts.Dealership here charge close to $1,500 for fronts.Drive's really nice now.Old fronts lasted me almost 8 years since i bought car.You can work the clutch/gas and brake smoothly with out much effort heal/toe like a race car action.Just drives so much easier in traffic,if that make sense, just less effort .Painting was a ******************** using the brush on Dupli-Color paint kit.I think it was a bit to cold still here in Canada to dry.Had to wet sand twice +repaint to look some what factory and still not looking in real life the best.Thinking sanding/repaint again in some area's.Cleaned up/washed the wheel wells/ under body too while up on jack stands.

How did you get the Porsche lettering on the caliper?

It's a decal. you can get them from Ebay.

That's a very nice job indeed for a brush-on finish. I sprayed mine with VHT. Four coats of paint, applied the decals, and then two coats of clear. I was quite pleased with the result.

I need to know exactly what paint you used. I'm looking to do mine in the next week or so and those look very pretty.

If you don't mind, perhaps you give a basic step-by-step process for painting them unless it's already on the board somewhere. I'm no Michelangelo.

Excellent job! The calipers look great and glad that you were able to save a bundle.

Looks great, all i would have added was painting the rotor hats silver.

I plan to change my tt brakes soon. What torque value did you tighten the calipers to?

eomak 04-25-2015 08:45 AM

Hello, thanks again. 63foot pounds. Paint.. i just tried to follow instructions on box.I will make a video when i do the rears on how i painted them.

CoBeerToad 04-27-2015 09:57 AM

I figured out which type of paint to use and which type of clear coat. I also found lots of instructions to assist a very amateur painter.

The only question left is how much paint do I need to buy?

eomak 04-27-2015 01:53 PM

Hi, i still have half a paint can left over. There is lots for 4 Calipers. I pretty much did 2 coat jobs.Had car on Jackstands for 2 weeks. First coat let it dry after five days then wet sand with 800grid to get paint even ,then 1500grit to smooth out just bye eyeing it, getting the paint to look even all around. Then repainted it again. Was a pain painting these with this paint. After 48 hours, lightly wet sand with 1500 area's that needed it, put decal on, then sprayed the clear light coats. Was like oh man ,the paint started to bubble get soft. Didnt touch, after hour the bubbles went away and made the paint look even smoother.? oh well. Gave it that oven baked look. That paint brush in kit is just garbage.brushes came off painting.
