Header exhaust pipes

Hello, i have read a lot of posted topics on installing headers without cats. Its seems like a lot of peeps are running into the problems of getting dashboard warning light. And peeps having tried this and that, but still seem to get a light down the road. I really would love to put headers on my 2003 base boxster. But doing all that work and then end up with a light, would be just a waste of time. Does anyone know or have put on headers and been successful for a 2003? other then doing some harsh retuning or mods? I have a new pare got for free ,looks like the Chinese brand with only two o2 senors pug ins. I need four. thanks.

Hey pal, on our cars we have 4 cats. Two on the header and two on the secondary cat pipes (connects header to muffler). The problem with deleting the header cats is that it will throw codes. However, the secondary cats don't have any O2 sensors. They're just extra thumbs really. If you want to get rid of them I recommend buying the Fabspeed secondary cat delete pipes. Sell you're old ones here if they're in good condition and call it a day!

Where are you located in Canada?

I have a Tiptronic trans, so my choices are limited. If you have the cash, here you go, no CEL with these.

Porsche Boxster 986 / S NHP 200 Cells Exhaust Headers - Maxspeed-Motorsports

You can run catless headers on a manual and have a tune done that doesn't throw a CEL.

Forget the Fabspeed secondary cat delete pipes, get some Circuit Werks secondary cat delete pipes.

I have run NHP headers, mid-pipes with secondary cats, and a sport muffler for 4 years. I use all the O2 sensors but have moved them to the ports before and after the secondary cats on the mid-pipes. You have to extend the cables but I have never got a code because of the cats.

Kram, why do you say to forget about the Fabspeed cat delete? Any issues with them?

The price of them is why. $609.03 with shipping vs Circuit Werks $189.99 shipped, plus the Circuit Werks pipes have mounting points from where your secondary cats mounted.

This set?

I don't like that the pipes are in 2 pieces per side, they don't have the mounting points or the O2 bung holes. To me the Circuit Werks look like better quality pipes. I'm willing to give $30 more for the Circuit Werks pipes.

I thought the 2-piece setup was allowing easier assembly.
Good point on the O2 holes though...
Thanks.

I don't think either set would be hard to install. You here people complaining about drone, when the culprit is most likely the 2 piece setup.

Bruce found a fix for that, but that just adds to the price of the pipes.
