anyone have this subwoofer box?

Not gonna start another thread about subwoofers here I promise! 2003 Boxster base with 14,000 miles, Kewood Bluetooth cd player, Infinity speakers in the doors and dash and cat back exhaust, otherwise stock. I found 3 options and am just looking for someone who may have the same or similar set up. one 8" subwoofer either in the kick pannel or attached to the dash to the passenger side. Does a box like one of these make a noticeable difference? Not looking for obnoxious bass thats heard 2 blocks away, just something to fill in the void.

Is it worth the money? Probably not. Can I think of a better way to spend this money? Most likely. I love my car and I love all music and just want to enjoy both at the same time.

I can't recall where I saw the thread but someone posted specs on how to make your own custom floor box and design measurements for next to nothing... few hours to build, some nails and glue etc. You should really look into that before laying out $800 from that site.

The one i was leaning towards was the one hanging off the passenger side center counsel. That one is $400. Still alot of money. My options are minimal however I am trying to avoid one on the floor taking away leg room. Ill search the threads a bit more and look for it thanks

Not sure if anyone cares about my post here but I found a box on ebay, its the floor mounted one loaded with a 10" sub. $130 including shipping. Not the one I wanted but it was too good a deal to pass up. I enjoy following all of you on this forum, did I hit a nerve here or something?

Anywho, take care all.

I don't think you hit nerve. Not a whole lot of car audio enthusiasts here. There are some but not a ton.

I think most prefer the sound of the engine revving down a twisty road

That, and this subject has been discussed way too much, already.

FWIW, I run an 8" kicker sub in a 0.3 cubic ft. enclosure that sits to the left of the passengers left leg. It is about 4 1/8" thick in the front and 5 1/16" thick in the rear (near seat), so not much side to side leg room is lost and no leg room is lost front to back.
It is definitely not integrated, but sounds amazing and is not in the way (also is carpeted in black, so blends in ok), so it has stayed that way for 3 yrs. I'd like to have a custom enclosure made for either behind or under the passenger seat, but it's just not a priority, especially when the cost of a custom FB enclosure is considered.

The enclosures that you linked are a complete ripoff, quite frankly. Those prices are anywhere from 4 to 10 times as much as I was quoted by my local audio shop for a custom fiberglass enclosure.

My current sub...look closely.

There is a time and place for nearly everything. I like a nicely tuned, powered-sub as much as anybody, especially live sound at a concert. I also really like Boxsters. I just don't care for subs in Boxsters. So many design compromises have to be made to get a good one in the car that most just sound like poo and take up a lot of space. A lot of great music happens above 60hz but when I need uncompromising, full range audio quality in the Boxster I always start by greatly reducing the noise floor with a pair of these.

Wrong place, wrong time IMO. Others will surely disagree.

Ear buds. Although real nice one, im not a big fan. Those are some pretty good ones!
That kicker box i actually looked at and looked for a place to put it. Funny how i didnt think of the same set up like yours. I like it.
My car is stock with the exception of a an aftermarket muffler and stereo. I love the way it looks from the factory and would like to keep it that way. This isnt the way i was planning but for the price i can try it out for a bit. No drilling or screwing so it can be removed.
A COI would be the next mod I would like to do. The motor snarles as is, i would imagine an unrestricted intake right under my head will make it better.
Thanks for the replys all. Im aware this topic has been over done and for that im sorry.

Don't say you're sorry! Yes, a lot of the same topics come up again and again, but typically there ends up being a new twist. The topic may be old but there are always new people here with a new perspective
