Favorite driving attire

1 Attachment(s)
What are your favorite things to wear when driving your Boxster? On the track, on long road trips, with the top down when it's chilly / when it's hot? Do you have a favorite driving jacket, gloves, sweater? Pictures and make / model of the items would be good if possible. I might be expanding my driving clothes closet.

On your feet:
On your hands:
On your head:
On your neck:
Pants:
Jacket / sweater:

Wasn't it Essex Pete that posted the topless woman driving a Boxster?

Linky?! :D

Seriously though, my Boxster is a summer only car, so it's usually t-shirt & shorts.
Ball cap and sun block for the bald head and a jacket stashed in the frunk for when it gets chilly.

For a leisurely drive in my wife's Tiptronic it's fleece lined comfort mocs:

For the '99 my driving shoes have a thinner soft sole, like these:

Formerly of Waterville, my wife was LL Bean customer service for a couple years. :)

Just regular clothes,

Feet- I like the Porsche design driving shoes great for long drives, not for use in wet conditions they have vents on the bottom

I use Nike shocks usually

Just like any Porsche, less is more!

Snug fitting T-shirt, denim shorts & lite-weight thin sole tennis shoes.

CraigM 03-07-2015 08:33 AM

Sperry's. I always like wearing hats, but then they fly off - gusty Texas wind tips it, speed lifts it. End up reaching up to catch it every mile on the freeway.

Driving attire?!

As the late great Jackie Stewart world say "I have my motoring cap" (must say with Scottish accent)

Another positive contribution to the discussion..........

steved0x 03-07-2015 11:37 AM

Ha!

I like to wear my worn out levi's (the others have all magically shrunk in the dryer) and this soled sketcher type slip on shoes.

I'm still working on a hat situation, the sun seems to get through the top of my sunglasses and the spot at the back of my head needs protection...

Semi-unrelated I am trying to get my lady to ride with me in a bikini top but I don't think it is happening...

Great idea! I never considered wearing slippers. I typically drive barefoot most of the year, Van's when shoes are required (because of the thin sole and pedal feel) but slippers sound like a great alternative.

p.s. - Nice to hear from another Mainer. My wife, mother, and sister have all done the L.L. Bean CSR thing for a bit too.

Luv2Box 03-07-2015 12:10 PM

Black tee, khaki cargo shorts, sandals, visor.

Box4two 03-07-2015 01:55 PM

Shorts, tee-shirt and running shoes which are all in winter storage as I look out the window and see it's snowing here again!

jmatta 03-07-2015 02:20 PM

Cargo shorts, t-shirt or polo and one of my trusted pairs of Piloti's for street...track, different story, different Porsche...never should have sold the RS or any of my earlier cars!!!

BIGJake111 03-07-2015 02:37 PM

Button up with a v neck undershirt. Button ups in white black and greys. With v necks that accent them well. Slacks or jeans. A simple solid polo works in the summer.

I have a porsche motor sport hat that I wear (usually when I don't drive) and a simple drivers cap that I wear sometimes when I do.

I have a black denim jacket for colder weather and a pair of lambskin leather driving gloves.

3 watches, a casual white face blue strap american eagle, a slate grey relic, and a black clemson watch, for whichever fits the outfit. As for shoes I stick with sperries or some simple Ralph Lauren polo shoes, (really comfortable) or a pair of boat shoes.

And aviators Incase it's sunny.

All works well, mostly subtle sleek and clean looking. Works for me.

Cutter & Buck Golf Shirt or Half Zip Sweater if Cool

Bob Timberlake Cargo Shorts

After 30 years of cruising the above is the best combo I've come across.......

My issue with Tonichristi is that NOTHING is positve in her / his / it's responses. Go to it's home page and review it's posts, a total troll.

Deserion 03-07-2015 08:51 PM

Cargo shorts, polo or short-sleeve button-down, and either Birkenstock sandals or my NB running shoes. With Ray-Bans.

I also agree. Since we are the New Yorkers we should be the DH's

OklahomaBoxster 03-09-2015 05:47 AM

If it's warm, comfortable fitting t-shirt and cargo shorts, no shoes. If its chilly, cargo shorts, sneakers, tshirt tucked in, and a hoodie over it. Top down, windows up, heater on. I've driven in 32 degree temps like that, and it really isn't bad unless its windy. I'd imagine heated seats help too.

kk2002s 03-09-2015 06:12 AM

Hats
What kinda hats work for sunny driving top down
Regular billed hats just want to blow off
I'm 6-2 so maybe my head is more exposed
Lanyard on hat is that best option

stephen wilson 03-09-2015 06:22 AM

I've never had a problem with a ball cap, as long as it's snug fitting, and I keep the bill pulled down. Do you have a windscreen ? It also helps to put up the passenger window at 70+ MPH.

CoBeerToad 03-09-2015 06:32 AM

$20 walmart tennis shoes, jeans that have shrunk only around the waist for some reason, t-shirt that has shrunk around the belly for possibly the same reason (I think it might be my detergent), ball cap. Usually if I'm moving I don't wear the cap, but if I get stuck at a long light or a train, a cap becomes necessary.

Carlisabadman986 03-09-2015 06:46 AM

Because of my long hair I absolutely need to wear a hat or sunglasses if I am putting the top down or my bangs blind me.

But as we all know the most important driving accessory is a blonde in the passenger seat.

Have wind screens
Snug fitting
Its the puffs that do it
Most of time all is well but little puffs come randomly and unexpectedly
Maybe i have an odd shaped head My parents probably dropped me alot as a baby
I'm thinking simple lanyard is my solution

I second the importance of a beautiful gal in the passenger seat.

tommy583 03-09-2015 09:32 AM

Hey Jake the windows look fogged up. Good job sir

Fact! Seriously people have attire for driving? Might as well break out he fire suit and helmet to get some gas :). I guess if the car isn't your daily driver it would warrant driving clothes. I think I have a scarf and fingerless driving gloves somewhere, throw on my Ray ban aviators and I think I am set.

You can occasionally snag them off of ebay for ~ $80 delivered, that is where I bought and paid for the last couple of pair.

Ecco shoes are the only brand I purchase if not an athletic type shoe, Incredibly comfortable and wear like iron...........

I actually had a custom pair of Nike shoes made to match my car that I drive in. They are speed yellow and grey and have 986 on the heel.

I think you're kidding? But I hope you're not...

Laflamme02 05-22-2015 04:32 AM

My official Boxster driving attire:
1. Short brimmed, low crown hat I got when I bought a VW GTI. This hat is perfect.
2. Medium weight jacket, loose around the shoulders and arms. Perfect for top down in 40-60 degree weather.
3. $10 Pashima scarf to look appropriately pretentious (functional as well).
4. Driving gloves. These aren't great. I'm looking for some better options here.
5. Old beat up Vans. The best driving shoe I've found. Thin sole and loads of comfort.
