Ok, I have a PPI scheduled for today... If it comes out clean, I may be the owner of a 996... Apologies, I know this is a 986 forum, but I welcome your inputs just the same....

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/1999-porsche-c2-carrera/6664979130.html

The owner is a very meticulous mechanical engineer and the cosmetics of the car are top notch... Hopefully the mechanical condition matches the standard of the rest of the car....

Oh, the rag is in the picture because he used to have a Carrera 4 and his wife liked the look of the Carrera 4 emblem, so she bought the "4" and stuck it to the rear of the car... I will be removing that if I buy it...

Nice looking 996. Custom paint?

Where you taking it for PPI?

It's Palladio Gold, not a very common color for the car, but it looks great (especially with the Black soft top). I like the fact that it is not Silver (or some shade of grey... no offense intended).

I am taking it to a shop in San Jose (Flintworks). Good Yelp ratings, so hopefully nothing major turns up in the PPI

I had looked at a 996 in San Luis Obispo 2 days earlier that looked to have been driven hard and put away wet, and the seller was asking $16.5K. You could not get that car to the level of this one for $1K. The car in San Luis Obispo had the IMS bearing changed (whereas the gold one has the original bearing), however I am not too concerned about the double-row in the 99. If the engine and transmission ever need to come out, I can address it then...

Flintworks is a good shop - or it was - I believe it was sold a couple years ago?

Good luck with the PPI. Make sure you get the proper cam deviation numbers!
Agreed, it's a nice color and looks clean!

I hope you plan to keep it for a long time, since automatics have very little demand.
