Porsche Parade 2015
 

Anyone planning to attend the Parade? I'm going since it is only a 500 mile scoot. Maybe we could do a corral of 986Forum members.

Where is it this year?

Apologize to anyone from IN, but kind of a let down from 2014 Monterey. I've asked around and the only thing it seems F-L has is a great resort and natural spring water (besides being the home town of Larry Bird). I've heard rumors the DE would be at the Corvette track in Bowling Green, KY.

Since this is the 60th Parade, Porsche is holding a contest open to attendees that will give an award to the fav car for ea of the 60 yrs. Not sure I explained that well so here's an example. If I attended, I could enter my CSS in the 2008 category and compete against the other 2008s for the most favorite.

I'm not planning to attend this yr's Parade. 2016 Parade is in Vermont.

At least 2 of us from North Carolina are going. Also doing escape in the black hills.

We are planning to be there. It would be nice if we have the boxster get together :)

I really lucked out, only a 150 miles or so. This will be my first Parade. Tempted to sign up for everything. Any tips about what is a must do and what/if should be skipped?

I'm hoping to make both events and the Palooza in Nov.

Watch the PCA website. It will have all the events listed with descriptions, so you can decide what you like and don't like. Only you can decide that as there are lots of choices - several running concurrently so you wouldn't be able to do them all. And events run the gamut from autocross to trivia. It is very wise to have your selections decided before you sign up as it takes a good 30 min to sign up even when you know exactly what you want to do. Plus there are some additional costs to some of the events, so you have to factor that in too. I would recommend attending the evening banquets.

I went to the Monterey Parade and plan on doing French Lik. Looking for a car to drive from California to Ind.?

Hmmm... Only a tank of gas away from Chicago...

The host hotel at Monterey did a great job accommodating the attendees, providing facilities and generally made everyone feel comfortable.

I was told that the hotel management from the host hotel in French Lic also attended so they could get a feel for the event, the people, and the overall needs. This should help make for a successful Parade.

Fun Fact: Was looking at places of interest in F-L and saw the population is 1800. There were 1200 attendees at Monterey. Even if there were only 900 this yr, the pop would inc 50%.

Anyone here registered and confirmed on this year's parade?
We managed to get our registration done yesterday but website was super slow.

I got registered 3/17 but geez what a format. I'm in for the TSD and the Indy Drive on Wed. I'm bringing my 15 year old grandson. The kid appreciates Porsches. He wants a 944.

The wife and I are driving out and my mother and father are going to tow their Boxster to our home town of Newcastle IN. And then drive down.

I registered and not only does the format suck, it took me 4 hours to get registered. Got to complain to whoever is in charge.

It is a time consuming process; the benefit will become clear at the event(s). Staffing and facilities will be accomodate all those that pre-register. All the goodie-bags will be pre-done and meals will be pre-ordered.
The registration process insures that the event wll run smoothly; and, as evident at Monterey, which has an enormous turnout, it works good.

Enjoy French Lik, I haven't figured out a good way to get as yet.

Does anyone understand JPP? I want to use my grandson as the navigator but I can't figure out the rules. Talk about something written by a Philiy lawyer.

I understand the preregistering process and it's necessity for a large group like that, but the format this year was asinine. There are dozens of events, meals and things to register for and instead of having a list with boxes beside and letting you check what you wanted and be done with it, there was a separate page for each item on which you had to check yess or no and then it took 10 to sometimes 20 minutes for the next page to come up. If you wanted 2 events out of 40, you still had to go thru the whole time consuming list. It took a 10 minute registration and turned it into a 4 to 6 hour marathon. I have never had any registration for anything take so much time and we go to all kinds of events. If next years is the same I'll stay home. I know 1 board member who got to register early before it opened to the rest of us and it took him almost an hour to do it and there was no computer congestion to factor in.
